In Islam, the belief in the Day of Judgment resonates as a pivotal tenet, marking a day when humanity's actions, both virtuous and sinful, will be subjected to divine scrutiny. This color pencil drawing focuses on a significant sign preceding this event - the disappearance of the words from the holy Quran. It portrays a scene of individual seeking repentance and forgiveness as they face the impending culmination of their deeds. The glass bottle is another symbol representing the normalization of alcohol. Inside the bottle hangs a necklace, one which has the ayat al kursi, the most important verse in the holy quran. The writing on the book is taken from Surah Al-Zalzalah which speaks about the day of judgement. The composition itself is a carefully layered amalgamation of mesh, fabrics, and a distinct fabric from Pakistan, generously imparted to me by my mother.
